Compress
Make pictures smaller for the web: resize them, pick a format and a quality, and see the size before and after. Several at once is fine. Nothing is uploaded.
Pictures
Each picture with its size before and after. With several, pick one to see it above.
Which format?
WebP is the usual choice for the web: often around a third smaller than JPEG at the same quality, and every current browser shows it. JPEG works everywhere, including old software and email. AVIF is smaller still, but slower to make; it's only offered if your browser can write it. PNG loses nothing, so quality doesn't apply; it suits screenshots and flat graphics more than photos.
JPEG can't be see-through, so see-through parts turn white. Saving also leaves out the camera details stored in a photo, such as where it was taken.
