Dither

Every picture on this site is made of dots in one colour and nothing else, which keeps each one to a few kilobytes. Try it on a photo of your own. It never leaves your device.

Floyd–Steinberg passes each pixel's rounding error on to its neighbours. Atkinson passes on only three quarters of it, so highlights stay clean. Ordered dithering compares every pixel with a fixed 4 × 4 pattern.
